Returning With a Fire
Falling-over the fire that burns you too,
From a sunset’s last glimmer, thoughts anew,
Calling so long - only now repenting,
With a fire glowing flames relenting,
That warms you and I before darkness spreads,
Dousing groans from evening gowns and their beds,
The boy within wakes the man without time,
Ageless are the sentiments that still climb,
This ever-lasting ladder well-trodden,
For those we’ve rung and who we’ve forgotten.
Man and boy of a shadow flickering,
One is the dream, one is still listening,
He’s got it! Yet waits comforting reply,
If there ever should be such a clear sky,
Give the heart a starry-eyed glimpse of it,
Youthful impressions never lie nor sit,
But re-activate summer’s twilight fade,
That Monday evening moment where we prayed,
For just one answer to a lifelong quest,
How does it feel for a plea to be blessed?
